Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS performs blepharoplasty, (eyelid surgery), endoscopic, and brow lift plastic surgery. The following procedures can help improve the appearance of the aging process, hide wrinkles, and correct deformities.

Blepharoplasty / Eyelid Surgery
(Eyelid Surgery) Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, in both men and women, can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence by eliminating droopy or sagging eyelids. As people age the eyelid stretches, muscles weaken, and fat accumulates around the eyes, causing “bags”, or excess skin to become prominent. During your consultation with the Westchester Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Senderoff, he will assess which of the four eyelids (top and bottom for both eyes) require the procedure.

The best candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in their expectations. Generally, patients for this procedure are 35 years or older. However, if sagging eyelids run in your family, it may be advisable to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.

Traditional eyelid surgery is commonly performed by Dr. Senderoff to improve drooping upper eyelids and remove puffy bags of the lower lids. These characteristics often make people look tired, unenthusiastic, and appear older than their age.

The traditional eyelid surgery procedure is the second most common aesthetic plastic surgery performed today on men and women, according to the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. While it does a good job at addressing the problems described above, there are other cosmetic concerns, such as crow’s feet around the eyes which are not necessarily corrected with traditional eyelid surgery. Laser skin resurfacing in combination with BOTOX® injections around the eyes can be done in combination with eyelid surgery.

There are variations of an eyelid surgery operation including transconjunctival eyelid surgery, laser resurfacing eyelid surgery, and lower eyelid resuspension surgery. Dr. Senderoff will discuss all these options with you. You may also review pre and post operative eyelid surgery photos of Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Douglas M. Senderoff, MD, FACS’, actual patients to give you an idea of what other people have achieved after eyelid surgery.

The eyelid surgery procedure is performed in our fully accredited surgical facility in Manhattan, New York. Your eyelid surgery consultation with the Plastic Surgeon can take place at either his Westchester (Rye Brook) or Manhattan, New York office.

If you have any questions about eyelid surgery (transconjunctival eyelid surgery, laser resurfacing eyelid surgery, and lower eyelid resuspension surgery) or any other plastic surgery procedure please feel free to contact us at our Manhattan or Westchester, New York office.

Eyelid Surgery F.A.Q.

Q: Does insurance cover this procedure?
A: Eyelid problems are common, even in younger people. Correcting eyelid problems that interfere with your vision may be covered by your health insurance. However, when eyelid surgery is performed for cosmetic reasons, it may not be covered in part or in whole by your health insurance. We will help you determine if your insurance provider provides eyelid surgery coverage.

Q: Can anyone undergo this procedure?
A: As with all facial cosmetic surgery, good health and realistic expectations are prerequisites. People with circulatory, ophthalmologic, or serious medical conditions must rely on the diagnostic skills of their own personal specialists to determine whether blepharoplasty is an option to consider.

Brow Lift Plastic Surgery
Frown lines above the nose and in the middle of the forehead will produce an unwanted older appearance in both men and women. As a result of stress and age, we tend to make expressions that promote creases, resulting in a serious, unhappy, aged appearance. A brow lift eliminates these lines and will improve your appearance. A brow lift is one of the only procedures that allows the Westchester plastic surgeon to access the hard-to-reach muscles that cause forehead furrows.

A brow lift is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The brow lift procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired.

A brow lift combats the signs of aging by diminishing frown lines and raising naturally low or “heavy” brows. Brow lift surgery works by elevating muscles and tissues that cause the brow to droop, creating a smoother-looking forehead.

An incision behind the hairline allows the brow lift surgeon to minimize visible scarring. The surgeon then elevates the skin and muscle of the forehead, using an endoscope (small camera) to visualize important structures. Aside from scarring, there are a few other side effects that could result from brow lift surgery. Brow lift complications are extremely rare.

The brow lift surgery procedure is performed in our fully accredited surgical facility in Manhattan, New York.
