Pectoral Implants Plastic Surgeon Westchester

Pectoral implants can be used to improve the appearance of the chest in men with underdevelopment of their pectoral chest muscles or for men who have a congenital defect or deformity of the chest from disease or injury. The pectoral implants are placed under the existing pectoral muscle so that the pectoral implants do not feel or look artificial. Instead, the pectoral implants produce an appearance of a full and well-defined pectoral muscle.

Body shape and the length and size of your existing muscles will be the factors involved in determining the size of your pectoral implants. The pectoral implant surgery usually takes between one and two hours to complete and in some cases can be combined with liposuction in order to create optimal results. The combination of these two procedures can give you the optimal results you want.

Pectoral implants are significantly different to female breast implants as they have a flatter profile and are designed to be firm in texture. The pectoral implants procedure is performed by creating an incision hidden in the armpit through which the implant is inserted underneath the existing muscles. A variety of sizes of implants are available which vary in width and projection, which you surgeon will discuss with you in order to meet your expectations and get the result you desire.

Please note: after your pectoral implants plastic surgery procedure you will not be able to drive for about 2 weeks and you will need to  rest shoulder and chest area for this time, lying in any comfortable position other than on your front. Strenuous exercise and lifting should be avoided for approximately four weeks.

Any bruising from surgery usually lasts only 10-14 days but swelling may last for up-to 6 weeks and any handling of the pectoral region must be very gentle. Dr. Senderoff will discuss this in detail with you – however if you have any questions feel free to contact the Westchester Plastic Surgeon at any time.
